Admission and Registration Conditions
The number of students to be admitted to master’s degree programs, the qualifications required, deadline for application, required documents and other issues are announced. To apply for a master's program, candidates must have a bachelor's degree or a temporary graduation certificate whose equivalence has been accepted by the Council of Higher Education. Furthermore, it is required to have at least 55 standard points in the relevant score type from ALES made by ÖSYM. In the evaluation of student admission to master's programs with a thesis, 50% of the ALES score, 40% of the undergraduate GPA and 10% of the foreign language score are calculated. This total must be at least 60 points. The foreign language score of the candidates who do not have a YDS/ÜDS score or a foreign language certificate from an exam accepted by the Interuniversity Board is considered as zero. Candidates above this base score are ranked from the highest score and placed in the relevant programs according to the announced quotas.
Rules on Recognition of Prior Education (formal, informal, non-formal)
(1) The conditions for admission to postgraduate programs through lateral transfer are as follows: a) Having successfully completed at least one semester in the department/art department of the same university or high technology institution or the postgraduate program of another higher education institution. b) Meeting the conditions for admission to the university's graduate programs. c) GPA score of at least 70 for master's with and without thesis, and at least 80 for PhD proficiency in arts. , (2) Transfers are made between national programs which provide equivalent education and international postgraduate programs recognized by the Higher Education Council. The relevant department/art department informs the directorate at the end of each semester about the transfer student quotas that they can accept in the next semester. Quotas are discussed at the graduate school board and presented to the Rectorate. (3) Candidates make their applications for lateral transfer within the application period specified in the announcement and with the required documents to the graduate school directorate. (4) The status of the candidates is evaluated and ranked by the relevant department, taking into account the success grade of the courses taken in the master’s or PhD program they applied for transfer and the number of graduate credits taken. This ranking is finalized by the graduate school board. (5) The courses to be taken by the student and those exempted during adjustment are determined by the proposal of the head of the department and the decision of the graduate school board.
Qualification Requirements and Rules
The master's program with thesis consists of at least seven courses, a seminar and a specialization field course not less than 24 Turkish credits or 60 ECTS; or special subject courses including thesis/artwork with no less than 60 ECTS.
Program Profile
The master’s program is a postgraduate program including education, scientific research and application activities and thesis work, which aims to achieve the following based on students' undergraduate qualifications; a) Develop their knowledge in the same or a different field at the level of expertise, b) Use the theoretical and applied knowledge acquired by the student at the level of expertise, c) Create new knowledge by integrating the knowledge in their field with the knowledge from different disciplines, d) Solve the problems that require expertise by using scientific research methods and ensure the acquisition of the ability to develop and solve a problem in the field independently, develop and solve a solution method, evaluate the results and apply them when necessary, e) Ensure that students can convey the current developments in their fields and their own works to the groups in their field and out of the field in written, oral and visual forms; collect, interpret and announce data related to their subject; and teach and control social, scientific and ethical values by observing them, f) Ensure the acquisition of the ability to apply the knowledge and problem-solving skills they familiarized with in their field to interdisciplinary studies.

Graduates of master's with thesis can continue their doctorate education if they meet the requirements.
Transfer to Higher Degree Programs
Graduates who successfully complete the master's program can apply to doctorate programs both in their own fields and in multi-disciplinary fields, provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and provide English language proficiency, and are accepted if they are successful in the interview exam.
Exams, Measurement and Evaluation
The student must have at least a CB (65-69) grade as general average at the end of the mid-term, final exams and similar evaluations applied by the lecturer. Otherwise, they will be considered unsuccessful in that course.
Graduation Requirements The student who successfully completes the master's program with thesis is awarded a master's diploma with thesis, provided that all the requirements of the regulations and other conditions are met. Mode of Study (Full Time, e-learning)

Establishment
The Institute of Social Sciences was founded on January 22, 1985 in accordance with the Article 19 of the Higher Education Law numbered 2547 and still continues to serve in the building of Distance Education Center (UZEM) at Kurupelit campus.
Qualification Awarded Having taken at least 7 courses and seminars, not less than 24 credits, and successfully completed all of the courses available in the graduate programs of the Department or other related Departments; Students who successfully defend a thesis prepared in the relevant field and deemed successful by the selected jury are awarded a master's degree in the field of Turkish Language and Literature.
Students who take at least 7 courses with a minimum of 24 credits among the courses available in the postgraduate programmes of the departments or other related departments; take seminar courses; complete all of them successfully; effectively defend his dissertation prepared in the relevant field and deemed appropriate by the jury are awarded the Master’s Degree in Turkish Language and Literature.

This total must be at least 60 points (Article 12 of the Ondokuz Mayıs University Graduate Education Regulation, which entered into force by publishing the Official Gazette dated 21 April 2013 and numbered 28625).
For the admission consideration to a master’s program, application scores are calculated by taking 50% of ALES exam score (a minimum of 55 points in the type of score that is required for the program), 40% of the undergraduate GPA and 10% of the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (for those not submitting a certificate for Foreign Language Exam, the score is considered to be zero) which must be at least 60 points in total (Article 12 of Ondokuz Mayıs University Regulation on Graduate Education published in the Official Gazette dated 21.04.2013 and numbered 28625).

Qualification Requirements and Rules
Graduate students must successfully complete at least 7 courses and seminars with no less than 24 credits, and defend their thesis. Students must successfully earn a minimum of 24 credits by taking at least 7 courses and seminar course and defend their dissertation to graduate.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Success in a course is determined by the course success grade. Course success grade is obtained by evaluating the student's success in studies such as midterm exams, applied studies, homework and the semester exam together. The success grade of the student is calculated by collecting 40% of the midterm exam or the homework counted instead of this exam and 60% of the semester exam score. Fractions are preserved in the calculation of these rates, but fractional numbers are completed to the nearest whole number in the calculation of success grade. Success grade is 65. Final exam grade must be at least 60. Successful completion of a course is determined by the course success grade. . Success grades are calculated by taking into account the students’ grades received from the midterms, practical studies, homework assignments and semester exams. The success grade of the student is calculated by adding 40% of the midterm evaluation or homework counts and 60% of the final exam score. In the calculation of these rates, fractions are preserved exactly, but in the calculation of the success grade, the fractional numbers are completed to the nearest integer. The success score is 65. The final exam score must be at least 60.
Graduation Requirements
Students who receive sufficient credits from the courses available in the graduate programs of the department or other related units and successfully complete all of them, who have prepared their subject in the relevant field and who are deemed successful by the selected jury and submit their bound thesis to the institute, are deemed to have fulfilled the graduation requirements. Students who take required credit hours and successfully complete all of them, submit his dissertation prepared in the relevant field and deemed appropriate by the jury to the institute are considered to meet graduation requirements.
